How To Find Art and Craft Shows

If you make jewelry, or create any other types of arts or crafts, a good place to sell your creations is a craft show. But how do you find good shows? What do you need to do to apply? In this issue, we will discuss where to find craft show listings.
During the summer (or the winter in the South), there seems to be art and craft shows every weekend. But in order to get into these shows, you have to first find them. There are many places where you can find show listings:
- Your local newspaper classifieds – many papers have a section for craft shows or vendors wanted
- Craft stores – many will have bulletin boards, or have information on upcoming events
- Craig’s List – Under the Community section of your local Craig’s List, there is a section for artists, activities and events. You can sometimes find ads for vendors wanted.
- Chambers of Commerce – check with your local camber for event opportunities. Many chambers hold fund raisers and have craft shows that go along with it.
- State Tourism Board – check on the internet for the tourism board for your state. Many have listings of festivals and events. Many have the listings online, and some have printed guides.
- Arts Associations – Check with either your local or state art board.
- Schools, scout troops, or other youth organizations many times hold fundraisers where you could set up a booth or table.
- Search on Google for events in your town.
- Other crafters often know of upcoming shows.
These are free resources where you can find art and craft shows or festivals. There are also many on line directories that list events. Some are free, some are subscription sites, and some offer free trials:

- and many more......
These are just a few ideas for finding shows where you can sell your creations. Before you commit to doing a show, it’s always a good idea to check out the promoter, the show itself, or talk to others who have participated in the past to see if it would be a good fit for you.
