Even though topaz is a natural stone, most topaz has been treated or enhanced, either by heating, irradidation, coating, or other treatments. In the case of Mystic, Nirvana or Azotic topaz, care needs to be taken not to scratch the thin coating on the back of the stone. Be careful when setting or polishing these treated stones.
